Tanker Explodes Attempting to Cross Mine-laden Strait of Hormuz

Moscow (ANTARA) - Three oil tankers attempted to pass through the mined waters of the Strait of Hormuz, one of which exploded, according to a statement by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Thursday.

“Three oil tankers backed by the United States attempted to cross a route that has been mined to the south of the Strait of Hormuz. After one of the tankers exploded and caught fire, the two other vessels immediately turned around and retreated,” the IRGC said, as quoted by Press TV.

The IRGC stated that no oil tankers would be permitted to enter or leave.

“Any vessel caught in American deception and attempting to pass through without coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran will meet the same fate,” the IRGC declared.

“The mined southern route of the Strait of Hormuz will destroy your investments. Do not be ensnared by the deception of the United States,” said Mohebbi.

US President Donald Trump likewise threatened on Wednesday to destroy a bridge or power plant in Iran, including in Tehran, each time Iran launched an attack on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
