Tank Container on Fire at Priok Port, Thick Black Smoke Rises High

A fire occurred in the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1) area, Cilincing, North Jakarta. The object on fire was an ISO tank container.

According to data from the Jakarta Disaster Management and Fire Rescue (Gulkarmat) Command Centre on Monday (21/09/2026), the fire report was received at 15:44 WIB. The fire location was at NPCT1, Jalan Terminal Kalibaru Raya Kavling B No 1, Kalibaru Village, Cilincing District, North Jakarta.

Officers initially deployed one 4,000-litre pump unit from the Kalibaru Post. Personnel arrived at the scene at 15:53 WIB and immediately commenced firefighting operations at 15:55 WIB.

The fire was successfully localised by 16:35 WIB. Subsequently, officers proceeded with the cooling process at 16:41 WIB.

“In handling the fire, 14 fire engine units with 70 personnel were deployed from the North Jakarta region,” stated the Gulkarmat Command Centre.

As of the time of this report, officers were still conducting the cooling process at the site. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In videos and photos circulating on social media, thick black smoke could be seen rising high from the fire location.
