Tanjungpinang SAR Searches for Crew Member Who Fell Overboard in Bintan Waters Early Thursday
The Tanjungpinang Search and Rescue Office has launched a search operation for a crew member of the KM Pasifik II who was reported to have fallen overboard in the waters of the Riau Strait, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands. The head of the Tanjung Uban SAR standby unit, Deryan Erlangga Pratama, stated that the incident was reported on Thursday at 11:45 a.m. WIB by the Batam Fishing Port Management Unit Office. The victim is known to be named Johan, who was reported missing and fell overboard whilst the vessel was sailing from Lagoi waters towards Telaga Punggur after experiencing engine failure at sea. Based on the information received, the victim Johan was not found on board the KM Pasifik II and was declared missing at approximately 2:00 a.m. WIB early Thursday morning. In response to the report, a rescue team from the Tanjung Uban SAR standby unit with four personnel was dispatched using a Rigid Inflatable Boat to the search location. Information about the incident has also been disseminated to potential SAR elements and patrol vessels transiting the surrounding waters to assist in the search for the victim. This SAR operation involves the Tanjungpinang SAR Office and the Batam Fishing Port Management Unit Office. As of now, the joint SAR team is continuing the search for the victim.
