Tanjungpinang: Tanjungpinang Police are investigating an alleged assault on a police officer identified as G at the Hangout nightclub on Jalan Aisyah Sulaiman on Sunday (24 May).

Detective Chief Inspector Wamilik Mabel, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, said the investigation began after receiving a report from victim G, who is a member of Bukit Bestari Police Station.

“The complainant is a Tanjungpinang Police officer, while the respondent is from Hangout nightclub management,” said Detective Chief Inspector Wamilik Mabel in Tanjungpinang on Friday.

The head of the unit explained that the alleged assault occurred at Hangout nightclub on Sunday (24 May) around 3:00 AM WIB.

The incident began with a misunderstanding between the complainant and respondent, leading to the assault on officer G. In this incident, complainant G sustained bruises on several parts of his body.

Detective Chief Inspector Wamilik Mabel added that police are currently gathering evidence, including CCTV footage from the scene of the alleged assault.

“We are trying to identify who struck him and how many people were involved. CCTV footage has been secured for analysis,” he said.

Police have also interviewed six witnesses related to the incident.

The head of the Criminal Investigation Unit confirmed that no arrests have been made yet.

“No one has been arrested as the investigation is ongoing,” said Detective Chief Inspector Wamilik Mabel.
