Tanjungpinang (ANTARA) - The Class IIA Tanjungpinang Narcotics Prison, Riau Islands (Kepri), has introduced child-friendly visiting services to provide opportunities for inmates to meet and reconnect with their children.

The Head of the Class IIA Tanjungpinang Narcotics Prison, Fauzi Harahap, stated that this special visiting service is designed to support the fulfilment of children’s rights while maintaining emotional bonds and family warmth between inmates and their children during their rehabilitation period within the prison.

“Through this face-to-face interaction, it is hoped that inmates will receive moral encouragement and positive motivation to continue self-improvement,” said Fauzi in Tanjungpinang on Tuesday.

Fauzi explained that to utilise this child-friendly visiting service, there are administrative requirements that families must meet; specifically, the visiting child must be officially registered in the relevant inmate’s Family Card (KK).

According to him, this requirement is implemented to ensure the validity of population data, security, and order during the visiting process.

He also noted that the existence of the child-friendly service is a tangible manifestation of the correctional staff’s concern for the psychological aspects of inmates and their families. The support and presence of family, particularly children, serves as the greatest motivation for inmates to transform into better individuals.

“Through the child-friendly service, we want to ensure that children’s rights to meet their parents are well-met and enjoyable, while still prioritising applicable procedures and regulations,” said Fauzi.

The implementation of the child-friendly visiting service at the Class IIA Tanjungpinang Narcotics Prison on Tuesday (29/9) proceeded warmly, orderly, and conusively. Several inmates interacted directly with their children, sharing hugs and embraces.

Fauzi emphasised that the staff of the Class IIA Tanjungpinang Narcotics Prison are committed to continuously improving the quality of supporting infrastructure to realise public services that are increasingly high-quality, transparent, and oriented towards humanitarian values.
