Tanjungpinang Immigration Detention Centre Deports 67 Chinese Nationals
The Tanjungpinang Immigration Detention Centre (Rudenim) deported 67 Chinese nationals involved in an investment fraud and online gambling syndicate in Batam, Riau Islands, on Thursday. Head of Rudenim Tanjungpinang, Rakha Sukma Purnama, stated that all the foreign nationals were detainees transferred from the Class I Special Immigration Office for TPI Batam after being subjected to administrative immigration actions in accordance with statutory regulations. “Prior to the deportation, all detainees underwent detention and immigration administrative settlement processes at Rudenim Tanjungpinang,” he said. According to him, the process was carried out through coordination with the Class I Special Immigration Office for TPI Batam, the Directorate of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement, and authorities of the People’s Republic of China to ensure all administrative requirements and travel documents were fulfilled. Upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the 67 Chinese detainees were handed over from Rudenim Tanjungpinang to the Directorate of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement. Subsequently, the deportees were handed over to the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China for repatriation to their home country, in accordance with the cooperation mechanism between the authorities of both nations. Rakha stated that the deportation is part of the Directorate General of Immigration’s efforts to enforce immigration law against foreigners who no longer meet the requirements to remain in Indonesian territory. “The successful execution of the deportation is inseparable from the strong synergy between work units within the Directorate General of Immigration and strategic partners, both domestically and internationally,” he said. He added that the Directorate General of Immigration will continue to strengthen supervision of foreigners and immigration law enforcement through collaboration with various stakeholders to maintain national security and sovereignty.
