Tanjungpinang City Government Explores Cooperation for Solar Power Plant Development with Private Sector
Tanjungpinang (ANTARA) - The Tanjungpinang City Government in Riau Islands Province (Kepri) is exploring cooperation for the development of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with private parties to strengthen energy resilience in the area. “The utilisation of solar energy is a strategic step to support regional energy resilience,” said Mayor of Tanjungpinang Lis Darmansyah on Thursday. According to Lis, the development of PLTS is highly beneficial as it can reduce dependence on existing electricity supplies. However, its implementation needs to be studied thoroughly, both for government needs and the wider community. He stated that there is no exclusion of the possibility that the utilisation of solar energy will be applied to government facilities as an initial step. Lis added that his side has received an offer for PLTS project development from PT Hijau Makmur Energi together with ODC Energy, which is a developer and consultant in renewable energy from the Netherlands. ODC Energy offers strategic cooperation, ranging from technical design preparation, financial feasibility studies, to project implementation management from the planning stage to operations. “ODC Energy is a consultant and developer of renewable energy projects that focuses on the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems,” he explained. ODC Energy assesses that Tanjungpinang has very good potential for solar PV system development. “This cooperation will soon be followed up through cross-party coordination, so that renewable energy development in Tanjungpinang can be realised immediately as part of our joint commitment towards sustainable and environmentally friendly development,” Lis concluded.
