Tanjungpandan Prison Allows Inmates to Break Fast With Their Families
Royhan Al Faisal, the head of Lapas Kelas II B Tanjungpandan in Badau, said on Sunday afternoon that, in the spirit of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah, Lapas Tanjungpandan opened the Besilak service — Berbuka Puasa and Silaturahmi Lahirkan Kebersamaan — for the families of inmates (WBP). “The Besilak service is a free service specially organised by Lapas Kelas II B Tanjungpandan to give inmates the opportunity to observe Ramadan rites while still feeling close to their families,” he said.
He explained that in this activity, inmates (WBP) of Lapas Kelas II B Tanjungpandan can break their fast together with visiting families.
This is certainly a moment of togetherness and warmth between inmates and their beloved families, while also strengthening family ties during the holy Ramadan 1447 Hijriah, which is blessed.
“This activity forms part of the personal development of inmates, especially in strengthening family relationships, and is one of the important factors in the social reintegration process,” he said.
He hopes that through the Besilak visiting service programme this can provide space for inmates to continue feeling the warmth and togetherness with their families.
“The silaturahmi established is expected to provide moral support for inmates to undergo their rehabilitation more effectively,” said Ghozali.
Acting Head of the Guidance for Inmates/Young Detainees and Work Activities Section of Lapas Kelas II B Tanjungpandan, Ghozali, said the visiting service is conducted with online registration or by arriving directly at the service counter.
Each visitor’s belongings are checked carefully by staff to ensure safety and order during the activity.
It was stated that the activity is not only a venue for breaking fast together but also part of social rehabilitation for inmates.
“This activity is a very meaningful means of silaturahmi for inmates. Positive interactions with families are hoped to provide motivation and strengthen family support for the rehabilitation process they are undergoing,” said Ghozali.
