Tanjung Uban Immigration Deports Moroccan for Visa Violation

The Class II TPI Tanjung Uban Immigration Office in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, has deported a Moroccan national, identified by the initials EMB (29), for abusing his stay permit by working under a tourist visa.

The Head of the Tanjung Uban Immigration Office, Adi Hari Pianto, stated that EMB entered Indonesia using a tourist visa but was found working as a bartender in a cafe located in the Tanjung Uban area.

“This case was revealed after we received reports from the community regarding a foreign national engaging in suspicious activities at a cafe in Tanjung Uban,” Adi said in a press statement at his office on Friday.

Following up on the report, immigration officers conducted surveillance and inspections at the location. Upon inspection, officers found EMB preparing and serving drinks to cafe customers.

According to Adi, such activities are inconsistent with the stay permit held by EMB as a tourist visa holder. Officers subsequently seized his passport and conducted further investigations.

“From the results of the investigation, EMB entered Indonesia through the Batam Centre International Port on 5 June 2026, before continuing his journey to Bintan,” he noted.

Adi stated that EMB was deported to his home country, Morocco, on 14 June 2026, after all inspection processes were completed.

He added that the authorities also issued a warning to the cafe owner to be more selective when employing foreign nationals and to comply with applicable immigration regulations.

“We must protect every MSME industry together. We remain firm against foreign nationals who violate immigration rules, especially those that disadvantage Indonesian citizens,” he said.
