Tanjung Priok Port Workers Hold Peace Declaration
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Alliance of Port Workers and Drivers (ABSP) held a peace and workplace safety declaration to commemorate International Labour Day (May Day) 2026 in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta, on Friday. “Today, there are 100 workers consisting of elements from SPPTKI, PSTTP, the North Jakarta Alliance Lawsuit, and Bapegesis who carried out a peace declaration in the Pos 9 area of Tanjung Priok,” said the Chief of Tanjung Priok Port Police Resort, AKBP Aris Wibowo, in Jakarta on Friday. He explained that the peace declaration was also filled with the reading of a pledge for safe driving in the port area. The participants expressed their commitment to becoming pioneers of safety and complying with traffic rules. They pledged to avoid driving in poor conditions such as drowsiness, illness, or under the influence of alcohol and drugs. “They also pledged to improve competence through education and certification,” said Aris. In addition, his side distributed essential goods assistance to the declaration participants, and the entire event proceeded safely, orderly, and conducive. “The entire event ran well thanks to the synergy between the police apparatus and the labour day participants,” he stated. Meanwhile, labour representative Joko Laras Anjasmoro appreciated the services and security provided by the police apparatus, allowing the event to proceed orderly and conducive. “We highlight the importance of safety and occupational health for workers and drivers, including the need for adequate facilities at Tanjung Priok Port,” he said.
