Jakarta (ANTARA) - Traffic access along Yos Sudarso Road to Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta was gridlocked on Monday afternoon, with hundreds of vehicles caught in a prolonged jam. “This congestion is due to container depot activities at BSA, Temas, and Seacon,” said Head of the Sub-District Transportation Office (Sudinhub) Rudi Saptari in Jakarta on Monday. He added that the traffic jam began in the afternoon and persisted into the evening. Rudi stated that transportation officials have been deployed at multiple points including Jampea Road, Yos Sudarso Road, Permai Toll Road, Pos 9, Kramat Toll Road, and Kebon Baru Toll Road since Monday afternoon. “Officials are on-site managing traffic,” he said. Field reports showed traffic snaking along Yos Sudarso Road, affecting the Ancol Toll Road leading to Tanjung Priok. Vehicles from the Cawang Toll Road heading to the port also experienced congestion on Monday evening. Some container trucks stuck in the jam were seen turning off their engines as vehicles remained stationary until night. “This is due to port activities, hence the prolonged jam,” a toll road officer said while opening the barrier at Pelindo Tower to allow vehicles to turn around and avoid getting stuck.
