Tanjung Priok Customs Destroys Long-Stay Imported Goods to Boost National Logistics Flow

Tanjung Priok Customs and Excise has destroyed state-controlled goods (BDN) and goods declared uncontrolled (BTD) in the form of long-stay imported items. This destruction serves as an initial step to accelerate the resolution of containers that have long been in the customs area and represents Customs’ commitment to providing legal certainty for imported goods while supporting the smooth flow of national logistics. The ceremonial destruction was held on Tuesday (7/7/2026) at the Waiting Bay of the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), followed by the destruction process at the facility of PT Sinergi Prima Sejahtera in Tangerang Regency on Wednesday (8/7/2026). The destroyed goods consisted of 303 cartons of cut flower plants and 203 cartons of pussy willow plants with BDN status, as well as 4,350 sacks of fresh garlic with BTD status. All of these goods had been declared unfit for use based on the inspection results of the DKI Jakarta Centre for Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine. Therefore, their resolution was carried out through a destruction mechanism in accordance with statutory regulations. Head of the Tanjung Priok Type A Main Customs and Excise Service Office, Adhang Noegroho Adhi, stated that this activity is an initial milestone in resolving long-stay imported goods within the Tanjung Priok Customs working area. “Today’s destruction is the initial milestone for resolving long-stay imported goods at the Tanjung Priok Type A Customs and Excise Main Office. Going forward, we will continue to push for the resolution of other long-stay containers that have met the requirements. This step not only provides legal certainty for imported goods but also delivers real benefits for the national logistics ecosystem,” he said. The destruction process was carried out by incinerating the goods using a high-pressure furnace under the supervision of Customs officers together with the DKI Jakarta Centre for Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine. This method was chosen to eliminate the original form and nature of the goods so they cannot be reused. The destroyed goods had been in the customs area for a considerable time, since January 2021 for goods with BDN status and since August 2025 for goods with BTD status. This resolution is expected to reduce congestion at Temporary Storage Facilities (TPS), optimise the use of containers belonging to shipping companies, and facilitate the national logistics flow. In the future, Tanjung Priok Customs will continue to strengthen synergy with the Quarantine Agency, TPS operators, shipping companies, and other stakeholders to resolve imported goods in a transparent, accountable, and professional manner. This step is expected to create a more orderly and efficient customs area management and support Indonesia’s logistics competitiveness.
