Tanjung Perak ups container fees

SURABAYA: Traders will soon have to pay more when transporting goods from the Surabaya seaport with the operator planning to impose additional fees for each container transported.

Under the new regulation, the traders will have to pay additional fuel surcharge of Rp 40,000 (US$4) for each container passing through the seaport for export or import purposes, while domestic destination containers will be charged an additional Rp 25,000.

PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya, the seaport container traffic operator at Tanjung Perak seaport, said in its circular that the fee hike would take effect on October 10. The container traffic operator raised the service fee on the back of rising price of fuel. While the price of premium was Rp 1,500 a liter in December last year, the premium price in August this year rose to Rp 5,480 a liter. -- Antara
