Jakarta (ANTARA) – Tanjung Lesung tourism zone and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pandeglang, Banten has indicated that the functional operation of Serang–Panimbang Toll Road Section 2 will drive a surge in tourist visits to the area during the 2026 Eid holiday period.

PT Wijaya Karya Serang Panimbang (WSP) has operationalised Section 2 of the Rangkas–Cileles segment free of charge from 12 to 26 March, between 06:00–18:00 WIB for Class I vehicles.

Chief Executive Director of Tanjung Lesung Poernomo Siswoprasetijo stated in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday that the policy is viewed as strengthening regional connectivity whilst facilitating access to various tourism destinations across Banten Province, including the area managed by his organisation.

According to him, the toll road’s presence will open access to South Banten whilst reducing travel time from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung to approximately 2.5–3 hours.

With this improved access, journeys to the tourism zone are viewed as increasingly convenient and accessible for tourists.

“Based on our market segmentation, we estimate that Tanjung Lesung could attract approximately 25,000 tourists during the 2026 Eid holiday period, which runs from 19 March to 31 March 2026,” said Poernomo.

To welcome the anticipated increase in visitors, the zone operator is introducing various accommodation promotions and entertainment activities.

Additionally, tourists can visit the Mongolian Culture Centre free of charge and enjoy several beaches within the zone.

Beyond recreation, educational activities are available for children, including visits to turtle hatcheries, releasing hatchlings into the sea, and participating in coral reef conservation programmes.

The zone previously reinforced its commitment to sustainable tourism development by balancing visitor growth, tourist comfort, and environmental preservation throughout 2025 and into 2026.

Tanjung Lesung’s Chief Executive Director Poernomo Siswoprasetijo stated that the management of this tourism zone focuses not only on increasing visitor numbers but also on creating memorable and sustainable experiences for the environment and surrounding communities.
