Efforts to accelerate connectivity to the New Palembang Port in Tanjung Carat, Banyuasin Regency, have entered a crucial stage. PT Hutama Karya (Persero), along with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM and several other parties, signed a memorandum of understanding for the integration of toll road development leading to the strategic port area. The signing took place at the Barli Halim Building, Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, Jakarta. This cooperation involves the Ministry of Public Works, the South Sumatra Provincial Government, PT Danantara Asset Management, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero). This step is seen as a strong signal for accelerating the development of the New Palembang Port Tanjung Carat as a new logistics and downstreaming hub in South Sumatra. The presence of toll road access is expected to streamline goods distribution, strengthen connectivity with the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), and support regional economic growth. Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu stated that strengthening connectivity infrastructure is an important part of supporting the national investment strategy, particularly in the downstreaming sector. According to him, South Sumatra has significant natural resource potential, from energy, oil and gas, to plantation commodities such as rubber and coffee, which require support from an integrated logistics system.
