Tanjung Balai Karimun Customs Destroys Seized Goods Worth Rp155.78 Million

The Tanjung Balai Karimun Customs and Excise Office has destroyed goods seized in customs and excise enforcement actions with a total value of Rp155.78 million. The destruction took place in Moro District, Karimun Regency, on Thursday (27/8/2026).

The goods had been designated as state-owned property resulting from customs and excise enforcement, and were destroyed through crushing, burning and cutting until they could no longer be used or circulated.

Head of Tanjung Balai Karimun Customs and Excise, Tri Wahyudi, said the destruction is part of the settlement process for seized goods that have obtained status in accordance with applicable regulations.

“This destruction is part of our duty in ensuring that seized goods are not reused or circulated in the community,” he said in a statement on Friday (28/8/2026).

Of the total goods destroyed, the acquisition value reached Rp155.78 million, with potential state losses of around Rp125 million successfully prevented. The destruction was assisted by a third party and witnessed by a number of relevant agencies.

Present at the destruction was the Head of the Investigation and Seized Goods Division of the Riau Islands Special Customs Regional Office, Horas Mardapot Baja Sinaga. Several parties witnessed the event, including the Moro Sub-district Head, the Moro District Attorney’s Branch Office, Moro Police, Moro Military Command, Moro Navy, Moro Fish Quarantine, and representatives of other relevant agencies.

Tri emphasised that Customs and Excise is committed to carrying out its community protector function. Seized goods that are not permitted to circulate must be ensured not to return to the community. “This destruction is one of the steps to provide protection as well as to create certainty in law enforcement,” he said.
