Tangerang Selatan, Kompas.com – The process of evaluating and extending the tenure of the Tangerang Selatan Secretary to the Regional Secretariat (Sekda), Bambang Noertjahjo, has become a focal point amid the absence of formal inauguration by the National Civil Service Agency (BKN). In the midst of this process, the Tangsel DPRD asked the local government to open all stages of the evaluation to the public to avoid speculation about the Sekda’s status.

Bambang has served as Tangerang Selatan Sekda for five years since his inauguration in April 2021. Chair of Commission I of the Tangsel DPRD from the PDI-P faction, Ledy MP Butar Butar, said the evaluation and extension process should be communicated openly to the public.

“From the DPRD, we emphasise two things: first, transparency; second, openness, including direct communication to the public about how the process is unfolding, so that everyone can monitor and follow it,” Ledy said, quoted from TribunBanten.com, Wednesday 20 May 2026.

According to him, openness is necessary to prevent negative assumptions among the public about the evaluation process. In addition to demanding transparency, the DPRD also highlighted several technical aspects of the evaluation process. Ledy said BKPSDM Tangsel had issued the recommendation to extend the Sekda’s tenure on 4 and 5 May 2026. Meanwhile, the process of issuing the mayor’s decision is ongoing.

On the other hand, the Tangerang Selatan City Government affirmed there are no legal issues with Bambang’s status as Sekda. Head of the Tangsel Communications and Information Office, TB Asep Nurdin, explained that the Sekda post is a High Leadership Position (Jabatan Pimpinan Tinggi, JPT) that can be extended based on performance, competence, and organisational needs.

“The legal basis is clear, namely Law No. 5 of 2014 on ASN, Article 117. It states that High Leadership Positions are held for up to five years, but can be extended based on performance, competence, and the needs of the agency,” Asep said in a written statement, Tuesday 19 May 2026.
