Tangsel Legislator: Eid al-Fitr 1447 H as a Grand Opportunity for Strengthening Brotherhood through Community Ties
The momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H serves as a grand community gathering to weave and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among fellow citizens. “Our hope is that through this Eid al-Fitr in the month of Shawwal 1447 H, we reknit the ties of community and brotherhood among family, relatives, friends, and fellow nationals. In short, this moment of joy becomes a grand community gathering among us,” said HM Salman Faris, a legislator and member of the Tangerang Selatan Regional House of Representatives (DPRD Tangsel), at the halal bihalal event at YPI Darussalam, Pamulang, Tangsel, recently. Salman, who is also the supervisor of the Yayasan Pendidikan Islam (YPI) Darussalam, expressed that through Eid al-Fitr, we return to our innate nature by proclaiming the greatness of Allah SWT after completing the month-long Ramadan fast. “After fasting, we celebrate by forgiving one another among family, relatives, and friends. Rekindling community ties that may have been broken between family members. Over the past 11 months, we may have had oversights and mistakes in our interactions with each other,” explained Salman, who previously served as Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Tangsel. Furthermore, continued the two-term DPRD Tangsel member from the Golkar Faction, Ramadan and Eid also embody social worship through zakat fitrah, zakat mal, and sharing affection during Eid handshakes. Addressing differences in Eid celebration timings, he stated that they must be understood while maintaining tolerance, harmony, and togetherness. “Let us continue to safeguard unity and brotherhood; differences are normal. Differences can also be a blessing through mutual understanding,” Salman concluded. Previously, the Eid al-Fitr sermon giver at YPI Darussalam, Ust Hamdi Supriadi, reminded attendees to preserve the provisions of worship and piety gained during the one-month fast after Ramadan. “With Eid al-Fitr, we return to purity by cleansing the heart of misunderstandings and hatred. We nurture love and strengthen brotherhood,” he asserted.
