Tangsel Implements WFA Until 30 March, Mayor Ensures Public Services Continue
The Tangerang Selatan City Government (Tangsel) is implementing a Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy for Civil Servants (ASN) until 30 March 2026. This policy is a measure to maintain the rhythm of public services while anticipating physical fatigue among employees due to the Eid return traffic.
The Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Tangsel, Tubagus Asep Nurdin, emphasised that this shift in the work system will not reduce the quality of services to the public.
“The Mayor wants ASN to continue serving with heart. Warm service does not always have to be face-to-face, but through quick and thorough digital responses. Our system remains ‘on’ 24 hours online,” said Asep in his statement on Thursday (25/3/2026).
Asep explained that the WFA policy refers to Presidential Regulation Number 21 of 2023 on Working Days and Hours in Government Agencies. Additionally, ASN performance assessments are no longer based on physical attendance but on work results.
“In accordance with Ministry of PANRB Regulation Number 6 of 2022, ASN performance is measured by output. If any service is stalled, our system will immediately detect it. WFA actually trains ASN to be more independent and responsible for work targets, rather than just fulfilling attendance obligations,” he clarified.
The Tangsel City Government also refers to the Circular Letter from the Minister of PANRB as legitimate discretion to regulate the national workload after the long holiday.
Besides technical aspects, this policy aims to safeguard the mental welfare of employees. By avoiding stress from return traffic congestion, ASN are expected to serve residents in better physical condition online.
“We do not want them forced to come to the office in a state of severe fatigue due to long journeys. Calm and mentally healthy ASN will certainly be far more effective in serving the public,” said Asep.
Tangsel residents are urged to utilise digital service channels to handle various administrative needs via mobile phones. If there are service obstacles, residents are asked to report immediately through the official complaint channels of the Tangsel City Government.
In addition to the WFH policy, observers emphasise the importance of government spending efficiency, particularly in major programmes.
If the WFH policy is reimplemented, clear technical arrangements are needed in every regional apparatus.
All regional apparatuses are asked to ensure services to the public continue normally during WFH implementation, especially in service units that directly interact with the public.
