The Tangerang Selatan City Government has begun implementing the Outbreak Response Immunization (ORI) programme simultaneously to strengthen child health protection from the risk of measles transmission. This programme targets around 109,000 children aged 9 to 59 months in the Tangsel area. The government is urging parents to promptly bring their children to the nearest puskesmas or health facility to receive the additional immunization. Tangerang Selatan Mayor Benyamin Davnie expressed full support for the ORI programme’s implementation as an effort to safeguard the health of the younger generation in Tangsel. “We invite all parents to ensure their children receive complete immunization. This is an important step to protect our children so they remain healthy and free from disease,” Benyamin stated in his remarks on Wednesday (8/4/2026). He also emphasized that the programme’s success greatly depends on active community participation. “With joint support from the government, health workers, and the community, we are optimistic that child health protection in Tangsel can be further strengthened,” he added. In addition to child immunization, residents aged over 16 are encouraged to undergo independent MMR vaccination as an additional form of protection. Meanwhile, Dr. Agatha Christie, Head of the Surveillance, Immunization, Crisis Management, and Environmental Health Working Team at the Tangsel Health Office, explained that the ORI implementation is being carried out in stages across all health service facilities. “This additional immunization will take place for two weeks at all puskesmas, followed by a one-week sweeping period to ensure all targets are reached,” said Dr. Agatha. She stressed that immunization is a crucial step in preventing the spread of infectious diseases, particularly among children who are the most vulnerable group. “Do not give the measles virus a chance to disrupt their cheerfulness. Complete your child’s measles immunization starting from 30 March to 19 April 2026 at the nearest health facility,” she clarified. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of synergy between puskesmas health workers and the Puskesmas Supervisory Team (TPP) to ensure the programme runs optimally in the field.
