Tangkuban Perahu Road in Denpasar to be Repaired Next Month
The Denpasar City Government has prepared a budget of Rp 37.7 billion to repair the Jalan Gunung Tangkuban Perahu and Jalan Padang Kartika sections in Padangsambian, West Denpasar. The roads, which have long been criticised by users for being cracked, potholed, and damaged, are scheduled for work to begin in July 2026. “It will start this July,” said the Head of the Highways Division at the Denpasar Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, Ida Ayu Trisuci Arnawati, on Saturday morning (20/6/2026). Jalan Gunung Tangkuban Perahu, which connects Denpasar with Kerobokan in North Kuta, Badung, has frequently come under scrutiny due to its damaged condition, which disrupts road user comfort. According to Trisuci Arnawati, the works cover repairs to Jalan Gunung Tangkuban Perahu along a 3.3-kilometre stretch. The project also includes Jalan Padang Kartika, which has suffered quite severe damage. Jalan Padang Kartika, which serves as a connecting access route towards Kerobokan, Badung, exhibits varying conditions across different sections. DetikBali observed that the section of Jalan Padang Kartika from the Denpasar side, or the south-eastern side, has suffered quite severe damage despite having been patched. Conversely, from the Kerobokan, Badung side, or the western side bordering Denpasar, the road surface appears smooth all the way to Jalan Raya Muding heading towards Jalan Gunung Sanghyang. Trisuci Arnawati explained that the Rp 37.7 billion budget allocated is not solely for repairing the road carriageway. “It also includes the drainage and pavements along the road,” she added.
