Tangerang Water Company Partners with University of Indonesia to Boost HR Quality

The Tangerang City regional water company (Perumda) Tirta Benteng in Banten has partnered with the Institute of Applied Sciences at the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to improve the quality of the company’s human resources. Tangerang Mayor Sachrudin stated on Monday that this cooperation is a strategic step to enhance HR management at Perumda Tirta Benteng, from the recruitment process and competency development to increasing employee professionalism, in order to provide more optimal clean water services to the public. He also said the collaboration with UI is part of an effort to build Perumda TB into an increasingly professional and adaptive regional company capable of meeting community needs amidst changing times. Furthermore, this cooperation represents a pentahelix collaboration involving academic elements, as the public now has increasingly high expectations for the quality of public services. “Therefore, Perumda Tirta Benteng’s human resources must be able to provide fast, responsive, and professional service, and deliver solutions for various customer needs,” Sachrudin said at the Perumda Tirta Benteng Auditorium in Neglasari, Tangerang. He stressed that clean water service, as a basic public need, depends not only on the availability of infrastructure but also requires human resources with competence, integrity, and the ability to continuously innovate. “Clean water is an important indicator in public service. Good infrastructure must be supported by quality human resources so that its management runs optimally and its benefits can be widely felt by the community,” he explained. Sachrudin also reminded the organisation of the importance of preparing for HR regeneration, noting that a company’s sustainability is largely determined by the readiness of the next generation with capability and professionalism. “Regeneration is inevitable. Therefore, it must be well prepared through coaching and competency development. Everyone has an equal opportunity to grow and make the best contribution to the organisation,” he said. Deputy Head of the Institute of Applied Sciences at FMIPA UI, Eko Waludi, expressed UI’s commitment to supporting Perumda TB in facing various company management challenges, particularly in improving HR quality. With this collaboration, the Perumda TB leadership is optimistic it can continue to improve the quality of clean water services while strengthening public trust in public services in Tangerang City. “We hope this cooperation is a good start for broader collaboration, not only in the HR field but also in various other needs. The Institute of Applied Sciences at FMIPA UI is ready to support and provide the best solutions through its expertise,” Eko said.
