Tangerang wants airport parking fees
TANGERANG, West Java (JP): The Tangerang Mayoralty wants 25 percent of the parking fees collected at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the mayoralty spokesman said Thursday.
Nurhayat Satjadipura, the spokesman, said West Java provincial decree No. 3/1994 on parking stated the local administration was entitled to 25 percent of parking fee income collected by individuals or institutions.
He said Tangerang Mayor Djakaria Machmud had sent the Ministry of Transportation an official request.
"There's nothing wrong with the scheme (giving part of the parking fees) as the airport is located in the Tangerang mayoralty," Nurhayat said.
The money would increase the mayoralty's income and support the mayoralty's development, he said.
The international airport, managed by the state-owned Perum Angkasa Pura II, opened in 1985. It has not yet given part of its parking fee income to the local administration as stipulated by the provincial decree. (27/sur)
