Tangerang Resident Killed After Being Run Over by Truck in Parung Panjang

A resident of Tangerang Regency identified as Wawan has died after being run over by a material-hauling truck suspected of operating illegally in Parung Panjang, Bogor Regency, West Java.

The incident was disclosed by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in a video uploaded to his Instagram account @dedimulyadi71.

“Our brother, Wawan, from Tangerang Regency, was run over by a material-hauling truck bearing a W-series number plate, suspected to be operating illegally in Parung Panjang,” Dedi said in the video, as quoted on Wednesday (18 February).

On the occasion, Dedi also warned all parties, particularly illegal trucks passing through Parung Panjang, that the incident that befell Wawan would continue to recur.

“If the parties concerned do not heed what I have stipulated and continue to carry out illegal activities, using Parung Panjang as a transport route for mining haulage, then the horror in Parung Panjang will happen again and lives will be lost at every turn,” he said.

On that basis, Dedi expressed his hope that all parties must recognise that economic interests must take into account public facilities — particularly those built with state funds sourced from motor vehicle taxes collected across the entire region.

“Secondly, there is also the safety of others. A life carries immense value — it is not something to be treated as worthless,” he said.
