Tangerang Regency to Implement 50% WFH for Civil Servants to Save Fuel
Tangerang Regency Government plans to implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) to curb fuel (BBM) consumption, following directives from the central government on energy conservation.
Tangerang Regent Maesyal Rasyid stated that his administration is preparing the technical policy for the WFH implementation and will finalise it in the near future.
“The President has issued a statement urging us to conserve energy. Therefore, we will soon formulate the WFH policy,” Maesyal said on Wednesday (25/3).
The Tangerang Regency Government opted for WFH over work-from-anywhere (WFA) to maintain optimal oversight of ASN performance.
In its execution, employees working from home will still be required to conduct attendance twice: at the start of work at 07.30 WIB and at the end of work at 16.00 WIB.
Maesyal added that the policy will only apply to 50 percent of ASN who do not directly handle public services.
Meanwhile, employees with direct public service duties will continue working normally or 100 percent. This includes ASN at the district, sub-district, and village levels.
WFH will also apply to staff at the Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil), Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), Transportation Service, Environmental Service (DLH), Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD).
“ASN who directly interact with the community will remain 100 percent as usual because they carry out tasks in the field and with the public,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Tangerang Regency Secretary Soma Atmaja stated that they are still conducting a technical review of the policy implementation.
“In principle, we will discuss it first with the regional government team. Currently, we are also awaiting technical instructions from the central government,” he said.
