The Tangerang Regency Government is preparing to build embung (artificial pond) infrastructure and hydrants at the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site (TPA) as a mitigation measure following a major fire. The Head of the Tangerang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Achmad Taufik, stated on Friday that the construction of the artificial pond is intended to minimise the risk of similar incidents recurring. He added that the government plans to initially build five hydrant units at the TPA Jatiwaringin.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) confirmed that the main landfill area, spanning approximately 15 to 18 hectares, has been 100 per cent extinguished. Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Communication Centre, attributed the success to the collaborative efforts of the joint emergency response team. Although the fire is out, ground teams remain on standby to monitor for hotspots and thin smoke detected outside the main landfill area.

The emergency response was legally supported by the Tangerang Regent’s Decree Number 609 of 2026 regarding the Emergency Response Status. BNPB provided significant support, including the deployment of four water-bombing helicopters and logistical aid such as 500 litres of Enviro Class A foam, dozens of mini pumps, fire hoses, and handheld radio communication devices.
