TANGERANG — The Tangerang Regency Government has confirmed that the work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) does not apply to all employees. Several agencies directly involved in public services are still required to work from the office.

Tangerang Regent Maesyal Rasyid stated that around 50 percent of ASN will continue to work directly (work from office/WFO), especially in regional device organisations (OPD) that serve the public.

“For OPDs that directly handle public services or interact with the community, they must remain fully operational,” said Maesyal in his statement on Thursday (2 April 2026).

In addition, the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), Environmental Agency (DLH), and Transportation Agency (Dishub) are also excluded from the WFH scheme.

This policy is implemented to ensure public services continue to run optimally even as some ASN work from home. The Tangerang Regency Government will begin enforcing WFH every Friday for ASN on 10 April 2026.

In its implementation, ASN undertaking WFH are required to conduct attendance twice a day, at 07:30 WIB and 16:00 WIB, and report their work activities to superiors.

“ASN on WFH must report twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, and inform their location and what they are working on,” said Maesyal.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the policy aims to promote work efficiency while continuing the flexible work patterns that were applied during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nevertheless, the government ensures that public services continue to operate normally.

Essential service units such as health, education, licensing, and disaster management sectors are still required to operate from the office.

Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian emphasised that ASN implementing WFH must activate their mobile phones to enable monitoring via the geolocation system.

This measure is taken to ensure that ASN work from home in accordance with the applicable regulations.
