Tangerang regency assets for sale

TANGERANG: Tangerang regency administration has offered for sale to the public its abandoned assets to cover the lack of funds to build a general hospital in Tigaraksa.

Administration assistant Obun Burhanuddin said on Tuesday that the most expensive asset would be the regency office housing complex and former council office building on Jl. Kisamaun, Tangerang, worth Rp 1 trillion (US$117.65 million).

Other assets include a former administration office complex on Jl. Daan Mogot and several agency office buildings, including a three-hectare abandoned bus terminal at Pondok Cabe, Ciputat, Tangerang.

After the administration built its new center in Tigaraksa in 1989, it ceased to use a number of assets located within the Tangerang mayoralty.

Obun said that the money collected from the asset sales would be used to finance the construction of the regency's general hospital.

"We have established a plan to start hospital construction next year but as of today the administration has only Rp 300 million available," he said. -- JP
