Rail services for the airport train and Commuter Line on the Tangerang route, which were disrupted by an accident at a railway crossing near Poris Station in Tangerang City, have gradually returned to normal. PT KAI Commuter confirmed that the tracks at the incident site can now be used on both lines, albeit with speed restrictions for safety purposes.

“As of 4.35pm Western Indonesian Time, Commuter Line services on the Duri–Tangerang return route and the Commuter Line Basoetta on the Manggarai–Duri–Soekarno-Hatta Airport return route can now operate on two tracks with limited speed at the location, and the process of normalising train queues is under way. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by schedule changes and cancellations of Commuter Line Basoetta and Commuter Line Tangerang services. Always prioritise safety and follow staff instructions,” KAI Commuter said in an official statement on Friday, 20 February 2026.

The accident occurred on Friday morning at approximately 6.05am at the railway crossing near Poris Station. The incident involved a train on the Manggarai–Soekarno-Hatta Airport route and a truck carrying a lifeboat, which was travelling from Cipondoh towards Daan Mogot.

Tangerang City Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari explained that the incident began when the truck attempted to cross the railway tracks. The front of the vehicle had already cleared the tracks, but the lifeboat cargo it was carrying remained on the rails as the airport train approached.

The driver is suspected of having been unable to accelerate sufficiently to fully clear the railway line. The oncoming train was unable to stop in time and ultimately struck the truck’s cargo.

“The train, which could not brake suddenly, eventually hit the body of the truck. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to be dragged approximately 100 metres from the point of collision,” he said.

The collision disrupted airport train and Commuter Line services on the Tangerang route for several hours. A joint team of police, KAI personnel, and relevant agencies immediately carried out the evacuation of the vehicle and lifeboat cargo, as well as traffic management around the crossing.

Police confirmed there were no fatalities in the incident. All passengers were safely evacuated, while an investigation is continuing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
