Tangerang prepares special supervision scheme for students during school holidays
The Tangerang Regency Government in Banten Province is preparing a special supervision scheme for all junior high school students during the 2026 long holiday period. Secretary of the Education Office, Agus Supriatna, stated on Tuesday that this supervision scheme is an effort to ensure students remain engaged in safe, productive activities and avoid potential juvenile delinquency outside school hours. “Before the holiday, we have instructed schools to strengthen supervision, and this message has also been firmly conveyed to parents,” he said. Agus explained that the local government, through the Education Office, is coordinating with relevant agencies to formulate the supervision scheme for student activities during the break. The initial phase involves socialisation and education for parents and students regarding the dangers of brawling and the importance of maintaining peace among youths. “Especially for junior high school students who are in puberty or searching for their identity. Parents must know who their children are going out with, until what time, and what their activities are, that is what we are conveying,” he said. He added that socialisation and the involvement of parents or family roles are effective steps in implementing strict supervision of student safety. “This is very necessary to prevent undesirable incidents such as brawls,” Agus said. He mentioned that besides involving family supervision, his office will also strengthen the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection (PP Tunas). Through the implementation of PP Tunas, his office mandates that all digital platform access must be restricted for users under the age of 16. He assessed that limiting social media access for children is very beneficial in creating a more relevant future for children, in line with the vision of the region he leads. “Through the provincial and regency/city governments, we have issued an appeal via a circular letter. Its content concerns the wise use of gadgets for students. This appeal is directed at students, schools, and also parents so they can supervise their children,” Agus concluded.
