Tangerang Police Chief Says Bhayangkara Day is a Moment for Introspection
Tangerang Police commemorated the 80th Bhayangkara Day by holding a religious study session and joint prayer. Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah stated that Bhayangkara Day is an important moment for the police force to continue improving itself.
The study session and joint prayer were held at Al-Amjad Mosque, at the Tangerang Regency Government Centre (Puspemkab), on Friday (17/7/2026). The event featured preacher Ustaz Khalid Zeed Abdullah Basalamah and was attended by elements of the Tangerang Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), religious figures, community leaders, TNI-Polri personnel, and hundreds of congregants.
The event carried the theme “From the Heart for the Nation, Serving with Sincerity for the People’s Trust”. Indra Waspada said the National Police (Polri) are committed to continual self-improvement in order to provide the best service to the public.
“Bhayangkara Day is momentum for all Bhayangkara personnel to continue improving themselves and enhancing the quality of service to the community,” said Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah.
For Indra, Bhayangkara Day is the right moment for the Polri institution to conduct introspection and self-evaluation. Through this moment, Polri will continue to strengthen its resolve to become an institution that is increasingly loved and trusted by the public.
He emphasised that public trust will not simply arise from the authority or attributes attached to the Polri institution. Rather, that trust must be built through sincerity in service, honesty in action, and consistency in delivering real benefits.
“God willing, this will give rise to humane services, fair law enforcement, and a Polri presence whose benefits are truly felt by the community,” he said.
Indra Waspada also expressed his deepest appreciation to all elements of Forkopimda, the TNI, the Prosecutor’s Office, local government, the ulama, religious figures, community leaders, and all parties who have continued to work in synergy to maintain security and public order in Tangerang Regency.
“This good synergy is our collective strength in facing the various challenges ahead,” he added.
Meanwhile, in his sermon, Ustaz Khalid Basalamah invited all congregants present to always carry out the command of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar — that is, inviting one another to goodness and preventing wrongdoing in a wise manner, according to each person’s capacity.
“Building a good society is our shared responsibility, not merely the task of the authorities or the clergy alone,” said Ustaz Khalid.
