Tangerang Metropolitan Police have dismantled a methamphetamine distribution operation, seizing 25 kilogrammes of the drug that had been smuggled in a Toyota Alphard.

Tangerang Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari revealed that the bust was the result of a joint operation between the Tangerang Metropolitan Police Narcotics Unit and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, with cross-regional coordination spanning West Java, DKI Jakarta, and East Java.

“The evidence — methamphetamine with a gross weight of 25 kilogrammes — was being transported in a white Toyota Alphard luxury vehicle,” Jauhari said at a press conference on Wednesday (18 February 2026).

Jauhari said that during the arrest on Saturday, 14 February 2026, two suspected dealers were apprehended inside the vehicle. Both are recidivists with prior convictions for similar offences.

“The two suspects have the initials SP (30) and IW (42). Both are recidivists and were arrested whilst inside the vehicle along with the methamphetamine evidence,” Jauhari said.

He detailed that the 25 kilogrammes of methamphetamine in the Toyota Alphard had been packed into two suitcases — a grey suitcase containing 13 packages and a pink suitcase containing 12 packages.

“The two suitcases of methamphetamine were disguised as travel luggage for a homeward journey,” Jauhari said.

Jauhari stated that the methamphetamine had been transported from Medan and was destined for Tangerang and Jakarta. He said the two suspects were apprehended after sustained surveillance.

He explained that the suspects’ vehicle movements constantly changed direction following instructions from the network’s controllers. According to surveillance findings, the vehicle was detected at Patimban Port in Patimban Village, Pusakanagara District, Subang Regency, West Java.

“Officers then tailed the vehicle until it stopped at a petrol station in Surabaya. With the assistance of the East Java Highway Patrol, police arrested the two suspects believed to have served as couriers,” Jauhari said.

He added that police are continuing to develop the case to uncover the entry route, suppliers, and network controllers. Based on coordination with the Regional Police, the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the case has been confirmed to be linked to an international narcotics network.

“Both suspects have been charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and/or Article 609 paragraph (2) letter (a) of Law Number 1 of 2026 on the Criminal Code, carrying penalties of death, life imprisonment, or a prison term of between six and 20 years,” he concluded.
