Police have arrested a man with the initials KM suspected of carrying out random attacks using a sharp weapon against residents in the Cibodas area, Tangerang City, Banten. The arrest was made following an investigation into several assault reports that occurred in multiple locations and went viral on social media.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, stated that the suspect was arrested at his residence in the Bencongan area, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency, on Saturday (11/7) at approximately 11.30 WIB. According to Jauhari, investigators identified the suspect based on statements from victims, witnesses, and the results of crime scene investigations.

“After conducting an investigation and gathering various clues in the field, officers managed to identify the suspect’s whereabouts. During the arrest, the suspect resisted, prompting officers to take security measures in accordance with procedure,” Jauhari said.

Police suspect KM carried out his actions by approaching victims on a motorcycle, then wounding them with a sharp object before fleeing. One incident occurred on 11 May 2026 on Jalan Sawo X, Cibodasari Village. The victim, Sunarah, had just finished exercising and was riding a bicycle when a motorcyclist approached from behind. The victim initially only felt a stinging sensation. However, upon arriving at work, a colleague discovered a laceration on the victim’s right back. The victim subsequently underwent a medical examination and post-mortem.

A similar incident occurred again on 9 July 2026 on Jalan Bawang VII, Cibodasari Village. The second victim, Malik, was walking to a minimarket when he was allegedly attacked from behind by the suspect riding a motorcycle. As a result of the incident, the victim sustained an injury to his right waist and received medical treatment including two stitches.

Jauhari explained that based on the reports from the two victims, police conducted an in-depth investigation until they identified and arrested the suspect. During the arrest, police seized a black Honda Beat motorcycle believed to have been used during the attacks, as well as the clothing worn by the suspect. Currently, investigators are still looking into the suspect’s motive, including the possibility of other victims with a similar pattern of incidents.

“We are still conducting intensive examinations of the suspect and investigating the possibility of other victims. Members of the public who feel they have experienced a similar incident are urged to report it immediately so that further investigation can be carried out,” Jauhari said.
