Tangerang Mayor: Cisadane Water Levels Drop Below Normal
Tangerang Mayor Sachrudin stated that the water level of the Cisadane River has been observed to decrease by approximately 40 centimetres from normal levels following a direct inspection.
The inspection involved traversing the flow of the Cisadane River to monitor the condition and availability of raw water, which serves as one of the primary sources for clean water processing for the residents of Tangerang City.
“This decrease in water debit needs to be anticipated to ensure that the process of treating and distributing clean water to the community continues to run smoothly,” said Mayor Sachruderm following the inspection of the Cisadane River alongside officials from PDAM Tirta Benteng and the Tangerang City Public Works Department on Saturday.
Sachrudin emphasised that the Tangerang City Government, together with PDAM Tirta Benteng, continues to conduct monitoring and technical steps to maintain the availability of raw water and ensure that clean water services remain optimal.
He also urged the public to help maintain water availability by using it wisely and avoiding excess. According to him, maintaining water availability is not only the responsibility of the government but requires the concern of the entire community.
“Clean water is our shared need. Therefore, let us use water sufficiently and as economically as possible. At the same time, we must also protect the Cisadane River, not to dispose of rubbish indiscriminately, and to care for the environment along the riverbanks,” he messaged.
Sachrudin added that the Cisadane River plays a vital role in the lives of the people of Tangerang City, and therefore its sustainability must be maintained together. The government will continue to take anticipatory measures, but such efforts need to be supported by public awareness in using and protecting water resources.
“What we protect today is not just the water flow, but the sustainability of the community’s life. The government will continue to ensure that clean water services remain available, and we invite all citizens to work together to protect our water sources. Because the Cisadane is an important part of life in Tangerang City,” concluded Sachrudin.
