Tangerang intensifies low-cost market operations to curb inflation
The Tangerang Regency Government in Banten Province is intensifying its low-cost market activities through the ‘Warung Tekan Inflasi’ (Warteksi) Gemilang programme to maintain price stability and control regional inflation in the second half of 2026.
Tangerang Regent Moch Maesyal Rasyid stated that the Warteksi Gemilang activity, held at the Tangerang Gemilang Outlet (GTG) in Cikupa, can ease the burden on residents by providing daily necessities at affordable prices, as they have been subsidised by the regional government.
“This Warung Tekan Inflasi activity aims to ease the burden on the people of Tangerang Regency, especially amidst the rising prices of basic necessities,” he said.
He noted that this strategic programme will continue to be implemented sustainably and even expanded according to the region’s financial capacity, as its benefits are directly felt by the community.
“The prices of goods sold at Warteksi have been subsidised by the Tangerang Regency Government by approximately 45 percent, so residents can purchase basic food items at much cheaper prices,” he explained.
Maesyal revealed that residents can buy various staple commodities at subsidised prices, including premium rice at Rp7,000 per kilogramme, granulated sugar at Rp12,000 per kilogramme, cooking oil at Rp13,500 per litre, shallots at Rp20,000 per kilogramme, garlic at Rp25,000 per kilogramme, curly red chillies at Rp25,000 per kilogramme, red bird’s eye chillies at Rp30,000 per kilogramme, and green bird’s eye chillies at Rp38,000 per kilogramme.
“Through the Warteksi Gemilang Programme, the Tangerang Regency Government is also expected to be able to maintain the stability of staple food prices, control regional inflation, and ensure that the public retains good purchasing power amidst the dynamics of food prices,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tangerang Regency Industry and Trade Office, Resmiyati Marningsih, explained that the Warteksi Subsidy Package Programme is being held over three days, from 22 to 24 July 2026, at the Tangerang Gemilang Outlet (GTG) Cikupa and Daon Market in Daon Village, Rajeg District.
“This subsidy package consists of eight staple commodities, including 665 kilogrammes of premium rice, 200 kilogrammes of granulated sugar, 200 litres of cooking oil, 200 kilogrammes of shallots, 200 kilogrammes of garlic, 150 kilogrammes of curly red chillies, 150 kilogrammes of red bird’s eye chillies, and 150 kilogrammes of green bird’s eye chillies,” she detailed.
According to her, the total market value of all commodities is Rp310,200. The Tangerang Regency Government provides a subsidy of Rp139,700, or about 45 percent, so residents only need to pay Rp170,500 to obtain the entire package.
“This programme aims to help residents obtain basic necessities at more affordable prices while maintaining price stability and people’s purchasing power,” she said.
