The Tangerang City Environment Agency (DLH) in Banten has sealed an illegal rubbish dump (TPS) on Jalan Gembor Raya, Kunciran, Pinang District, to prevent environmental pollution detrimental to the surrounding community. Head of the Tangerang City DLH, Wawan Fauzi, stated on Thursday that the disposal site was operating without the necessary permits. “Today, together with other relevant authorities, we are carrying out the enforcement against an illegal TPS that is operating without a licence and is suspected of operating not in accordance with waste management procedures under the applicable regulations,” said Wawan. He added that this enforcement against the illegal TPS was carried out to uphold prevailing regulations. The closure was marked by the direct installation of a sealing information board at the location. The Tangerang municipal government, through Civil Service Investigators (PPNS) of the Tangerang Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), also took firm steps by taking direct statements from the perpetrators of the illegal waste management. “After the enforcement, local authorities will take over supervisory duties at the site. If activities persist, we will not hesitate to take strict action,” he said, accompanied by Pinang Police Chief Aditya Wijanarko. Furthermore, the Tangerang municipal government will continue its enforcement agenda at several other illegal rubbish dumps in the near future, such as on Jalan Dipati Unus in Cibodas and in Kampung Jati Baru in Benda, which are already under surveillance.
