Tangerang deports 13 foreigners

TANGERANG: The Tangerang Immigration Office has deported 13 foreigners since January for violating their temporary stay permit.

"We have started a strict monitoring of foreigners working and living in Tangerang. The immigration office will establish an integrated team of officials from the manpower agency, the police and the prosecutor's office," said immigration office head Kabul Priyono.

Among the deported foreigners were two Cameroon nationals, two from Liberia, two Koreans, two Singaporeans, two Thais, one Chinese, one Filipino and a Chilean.

Kabul said about 4,200 foreigners live in Tangerang regency and municipality, including infants and retirees.

"The foreign population in Tangerang remains the same. Most of them are Koreans running businesses and living in Serpong, Cikupa and Karawaci districts," he added. -- JP
