Tangerang Civil Registry: Unmarried Individuals Eligible to Hold Separate Family Cards

The Tangerang City Civil Registry Office (Disdukcapil) in Banten Province has ensured that unmarried residents can possess their own Family Card (KK), provided they fulfil population administration regulations.

The Head of the Tangerang City Civil Registry Office, Rizal Ridolloh, stated in Tangerang on Monday that the requirements for creating a KK for unmarried individuals include preparing the applicant’s electronic ID card (e-KTP) and the previous Family Card where they are still registered under their parents’ card.

Applicants must also complete Form F-1.02, which is the Population Event Registration Form, according to the type of application. A statement of unmarried status may be required, along with other supporting documents relevant to the specific application, such as documents related to relocation or data changes.

“The Family Card is not only for married individuals or those who have started a family. For unmarried citizens who have met the population administration provisions, they can process and possess their own KK,” said Rizal.

He noted that this policy is part of an effort to provide ease to the public in possessing population documents that correspond to their actual circumstances.

Rizal added that a KK can be issued for residents living alone, those still living with their parents, or heads of dormitories and residents of shared living spaces, in accordance with applicable regulations.

The primary requirement is that applicants must be at least 17 years old or have been previously married, as evidenced by an electronic ID card. For residents previously registered under their parents’ KK, applicants must also prepare the previous KK and the relevant population administration forms.

“The most important thing is that the public ensures their population data is accurate and all required documents are complete. By having their own KK, population data can be recorded according to actual conditions, which will facilitate various administrative needs,” he explained.

He reminded the public that the entire population administration process is free of charge. Rizal urged residents to manage their documents independently and avoid using intermediaries or brokers.

“Do not easily give money to parties offering document processing services. All population administration services are free,” he said.
