Tangerang Abpednas Consolidation: Reda Manthovani Emphasises Village Protection Function
Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence at Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office, Reda Manthovani, attended a consolidation meeting of the National Village Deliberative Body Association (Abpednas) in Tangerang Regency held at Lemo Hotel, Banten, on Thursday, 12 March 2026. The event served as an opportunity to strengthen synergy between law enforcement and village officials in improving good village governance.
The consolidation meeting was also attended by the Tangerang Regent, the Head of Banten High Prosecutor’s Office, and Abpednas officials from across Tangerang Regency. The meeting discussed various efforts to strengthen village governance, particularly in budget management to ensure it is conducted transparently, accountably, and in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
In his remarks, Reda Manthovani emphasised that the Village Protection programme (Jaga Desa) is not designed as an instrument to find fault or criminalise village officials. He stressed that the programme represents the state’s presence to provide security for village budget administrators so they can work properly within legal boundaries.
According to him, the Village Protection programme plays a primary role in the preventive function. Through legal assistance provided by the prosecutor’s office, village officials are expected to understand applicable regulations and thus avoid potential legal violations, whether caused by administrative negligence or insufficient understanding of continuously evolving rules.
“The Village Protection programme plays an important role in ensuring that village officials do not fall into legal problems, so that village development can proceed without obstruction,” Manthovani said.
In response, the Tangerang Regent expressed appreciation to the Attorney General’s Office for implementing the Village Protection programme in Tangerang Regency. He assessed the prosecutor’s role as a legal consultant partner to be highly beneficial for the regional government in realising clean and accountable village governance.
The legal assistance was deemed capable of increasing the confidence and self-assurance of village heads in carrying out various development programmes that have a direct impact on community welfare.
Meanwhile, the Head of Banten High Prosecutor’s Office also expressed full support for the implementation of the Village Protection programme. The office committed to opening broad channels of communication for village officials who require legal guidance in carrying out their duties.
Through synergy between the regional government, the prosecutor’s office, and Abpednas, it is hoped that a healthy village development climate will be created, where compliance with the law and village economic progress can advance together for a better future for Banten.
