REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – An incident involving a thug smashing a bakso vendor’s bowl in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta, went viral on social media. The act was carried out because the thug was not given his share of money by the vendor.

In a video circulating on social media, it is narrated that the thug demanded a monthly payment of Rp 100,000 from the bakso vendor. However, the vendor refused to pay and requested a deadline.

“I’ll pay, but on the 1st. I already gave it to you on the 1st last time. Now you’re acting like this,” said the voice of the video recorder, believed to be the bakso vendor being asked for the payment, quoted by Republika on Friday (10/4/2026).

The Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, AKBP Dhimas Praset, acknowledged the occurrence of thuggery in his area. The incident took place in the Kampung Bali sub-district, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

According to him, the police also received the report on Thursday night (9/4/2026). From the information gathered, the victim is a bakso vendor who usually sells in the area.

“The on-duty criminal investigation unit has taken the victim’s statement and coordinated with the RW head, successfully bringing in three suspects,” he said when contacted.

He mentioned that the three suspects are initials TDT (26 years old), DA (36), and OP (36). All three are residents of Kampung Bali, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
