Tanah Abang Market visitors reach 15,000 people per day
The management of Tanah Abang Market has recorded that the number of visitors to Blocks A and B has reached approximately 15,000 people per day, marking a resurgence in trading activity at the wholesale centre. Rahmat Kartolo, Manager of the Tanah Abang Market Large Unit (UPB), stated in Jakarta on Sunday that an increase in visitor numbers has been consistently observed recently. βThe increase in the number of buyers is clearly visible and continues to grow. It is recorded that almost every day, 15,000 visitors enter the Block A and Block B areas,β he said. According to Rahmat, trading activity is also characterised by the arrival of international tourists, especially from Malaysia, who are shopping for various products at Tanah Abang Market. He noted that visitor numbers even reached around 30,000 people per day leading up to the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Rahmat added that the management is continuously reorganising kiosk zoning, including areas for sports jerseys and various types of apparel, to make shopping easier for visitors. In addition to serving direct purchases, Tanah Abang Market also provides facilities for traders operating online as part of an adaptation to evolving trading patterns. Rahmat expressed hope that visitor numbers will continue to rise, thereby further revitalising trading activities at Tanah Abang Market.
