Tanah Abang Market Closes from 20 March 2026 for Eid al-Fitr Holiday
Jakarta — Tanah Abang Block A wholesale centre will close from 20-26 March 2026 during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holiday period in 2026.
“Block A will close from 20-26 March,” said Hery Supriyatna, manager of Tanah Abang Block A market, when contacted in Jakarta on Saturday. He stated that the wholesale centre will resume normal operations on 27 March 2026.
On 19 March 2026, Block A will operate only until 14:00 (local time). Wholesale merchants typically close on the day before Eid. “Many shops will already be closed for the exodus home. Approximately 60 per cent of shops are expected to remain open on 19 March 2026,” Supriyatna explained.
During the final two weeks of Ramadan and approaching Eid this year, Tanah Abang is predicted to experience significant foot traffic, with visitor numbers expected to reach approximately 100,000 people.
Previously, Jakarta Vice-Governor Rano Karno visited Tanah Abang Market. According to Supriyatna, the visit was related to maximising service delivery in anticipation of increased visitor numbers. Rano also ensured that both visitors and vendors feel comfortable and that there is no illegal parking in the area.
Rano emphasised that there is no room for illegal parking, as the Jakarta provincial government is committed to eliminating and controlling all illegal parking throughout Jakarta.
