Tanah Abang Market Building to Close on 27 May 2026

Jakarta - The Tanah Abang Block A Wholesale Market building will close on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, in observance of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri. Hery Supriyatna, manager of Tanah Abang Block A Market, said on Tuesday that the building would reopen on 28 May 2026. The market operated normally on Tuesday. ‘It will operate normally today until 4pm WIB,’ Hery said. Regarding visitor numbers ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday, he said there has been no significant increase, though he did not provide exact figures as counts are still ongoing. Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated in March 2026 that traders’ sales at Tanah Abang Market had increased by around 30%. Their main competitors are online stores across various platforms, prompting many traders to adopt e-commerce to expand their reach. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who conducted an inspection at Tanah Abang Market in March 2026, stated that consumer purchasing power remains stable and the economy is far from crisis.
