Tambang Timah's estate

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned tin mining company PT Tambang Timah plans to build an industrial estate in Bangka, South Sumatra, to further diversify its businesses.

Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas, the president of Tambang Timah, said yesterday the industrial estate project, to be built on a 1,500-hectare plot of a land in Belinyu, would acomodate a wide range of industries, including steel and fisheries.

The estate would jointly be owned by the company and the provincial and local administrations, Erry said after a meeting with Governor Ramli Hasan Basri in Palembang, South Sumatra.

He said the project would involve investors from Spain but he di not give further details.

Tambang Timah, which is listed on the domestic and London stock exchanges, operates tin mines on Bangka, Belitung, Karimun, and Kundur islands near southern Sumatra. (02)
