Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang to Host 2026 NU Congress

The central board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has officially designated Pondok Pesantren Tambakberas in Jombang, East Java, as the location for the 35th NU Congress in 2026. The supreme forum of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organisation will be held from 27 to 30 August 2026. The decision was announced directly by Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Ahyar during a joint Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah leadership meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday evening. PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, stated that the meeting not only determined the location but also confirmed the timing of the congress. In addition to the venue and dates, the plenary session agreed on special policies for PWNU and PCNU across Tanah Papua, reflecting the central board’s attention to the conditions and needs of the organisation in the Papua region. Gus Ipul urged all levels of the organisation to focus on preparations for the congress. He also reminded NU officials at all levels not to be easily swayed by unverified information, particularly that circulating on social media, noting that not everything on social media is factual and some may be hoaxes or slander intended to disrupt the organisation’s focus.
