Taman Safari Indonesia ready to manage Bandung Zoo
Bandung City (ANTARA) - Taman Safari Indonesia has stated its readiness to participate in the tender process for managing Bandung Zoo as part of its commitment to animal conservation and sustainable management of conservation institutions.
Taman Safari Indonesia’s Chief Executive Aswin Sumampau said that managing conservation institutions is not merely an operational matter but also concerns animal welfare, public education, and institutional sustainability.
“For us, managing conservation institutions is not just an operational issue, but a long-term responsibility related to animal welfare, public education aspects, regulatory compliance, and institutional sustainability,” Aswin said in a statement received in Bandung on Thursday.
As a sign of seriousness, Taman Safari Indonesia has followed the initial stages facilitated by the Bandung City Government, including forums for exploring the planned management of the zoo.
According to him, the process is expected to run transparently, accountably, and provide equal opportunities for parties with capacity in managing conservation institutions.
“Therefore, the management process must be conducted prudently, measurably, and prioritising conservation interests,” he said.
“The safety, health, and welfare of the animals must be the top priority,” he added.
With more than 40 years of experience managing conservation institutions in Indonesia, Taman Safari Indonesia assesses that Bandung Zoo has the potential to develop into a modern conservation institution meeting international standards without abandoning its historical values.
“Our main focus is to ensure that all decisions taken still place the safety, health, and welfare of the animals as the top priority,” Aswin said.
In addition, Aswin revealed that his side also emphasises the importance of management certainty given the presence of several state-deposited animals currently placed at Bandung Zoo.
According to him, management certainty is needed to ensure the safety and welfare of those animals remain guaranteed.
