Taman Ria Remaja to be renovated

JAKARTA (JP): Private developer PT Ariobimo Perkasa in
cooperation with the Ria Pembangunan organization will renovate
Taman Ria Remaja in Central Jakarta into a modern recreation
center.

An agreement for the renovation was signed on Wednesday by
Mrs. Try Sutrisno, wife of the Vice President, on her capacity as
the vice chairperson of Ria Pembangunan, Mrs. Ali Moertopo, wife
of the late Minister of Information, as the chairperson of the
project, and for Syarif C. Sutardjo, president of PT Ariobimo.

Under the agreement, PT Ariobimo is allowed to manage the
recreation center for 20 years, Antara reported.

In her speech at the signing ceremony, Mrs. Try Sutrisno
hailed the renovation plan as another recreation facility for
Jakartans.

She urged the developer to maintain the environmental
conditions in Taman Ria and to abide by the existing regulations
during the renovation works.

Mrs. Ali Moertopo promised that the renovation works will not
change the condition of the parks, which cover about 10 hectares,
and the existing man-made lake.

Syarif C. Sutardjo said that the renovation project is
scheduled to start next July and be completed in 18 months.

The project will be equipped with various playgrounds,
restaurants and fishing centers. (hhr)
