Taman Puring to be Transformed into Jakarta Selatan's First Disability Park
GOVERNOR of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung has approved the proposal to build a Disability Park in the Taman Puring area, South Jakarta, as part of efforts to provide an inclusive public space. The facilities for people with disabilities are planned to occupy land of approximately 3,000 square metres.
Pramono emphasised that the approval follows the proposal from the Mayor of South Jakarta to ensure all segments of society have equal access to green open spaces. He also instructed his officials to complete the administrative process so that physical works can begin promptly.
“And I specifically approve what the Mayor of South Jakarta proposed; Taman Puring will be used as a Disability Park in South Jakarta,” Pramono said in South Jakarta on Tuesday (19/5).
Furthermore, Pramono asked for the decision letter to be issued promptly. “And I request the letter to be prepared quickly so that we can start building this new public facility of about 3,000 square metres in South Jakarta,” he added.
Although Jakarta already has a similar park in Pademangan, North Jakarta, Pramono wants the South Jakarta project to meet higher standards. He emphasised the importance of involving experts in the design process so that the facility built is truly functional for its users.
“A disability park in Jakarta has in fact existed before, namely in Pademangan. But I will ask that for South Jakarta this one uses architecture that understands the needs of the disabled,” Pramono explained.
According to him, the right architectural design is the key to ensure the park is not just symbolic, but can be used optimally for social activities, recreation, and public interaction spaces for people with disabilities.
“So that the disabled space can be truly used by people with disabilities,” he concluded. (Z-10)

Pramono said, in the initial phase 27,000 CCTV cameras will be jointly managed by 2027.
