TAM ESDM: Strengthening production-distribution key to energy resilience
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Satya Hangga Yudha Widya Putra, Expert Staff to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (TAM ESDM), stated that strengthening domestic energy production and distribution is key to national resilience amid global geopolitical dynamics, particularly those in the Middle East region at present.
In a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, he said this aligns with the government’s Asta Cita vision points 2 and 5, focusing on energy self-sufficiency and national downstreaming.
“The government is currently accelerating programmes such as adding 100 GW of solar power plant (PLTS) capacity, implementing the B50 programme in July 2026, and dieselising power plants in underdeveloped areas to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels,” he said during a visit to PT Migas Utama Jabar (Perseroda) or MUJ in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (8/4).
During the visit, Hangga emphasised that the central government provides full support to regions in managing their energy potential in line with the Minister of ESDM’s directives.
According to him, with the “Merah Putih” spirit, cross-sectoral collaboration between the central government, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) can ensure energy availability that is not only sustainable but also affordable for all levels of society, while positioning West Java as a model for regional energy independence in Indonesia.
On that occasion, Hangga also expressed appreciation for MUJ’s achievements as the second-best BUMD in West Java with significant dividend contributions.
Having exceeded a decade in age, MUJ now not only focuses on managing a 10 per cent participating interest (PI) but is expanding into the oil and gas support infrastructure sector, gas trading through CNG and LNG, as well as the implementation and management of electric vehicles and mini-hydro power plants (PLTMH) to support net zero emission targets.
Meanwhile, MUJ Director Ryan Alfian Noor emphasised that his company is ready to become a key player in the gas supply chain in the Pasundan land through independent management of CNG mother stations.
This step is taken so that the public and industry can obtain more competitive gas prices, with potential savings of up to 20 per cent.
MUJ is also targeting gas allocation from new oil and gas fields in West Java.
