Talkshow at SMAN 9 Gowa: TP PKK Chair Encourages Students to Develop Their Talents and Potential
VIVA – The General Chair (Ketum) of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Tri Tito Karnavian, encouraged students at SMAN 9 Gowa to continuously develop their talents and personal potential. She also urged students to use their time wisely, such as by reading, studying, and acquiring new knowledge.
“You reading is one way of investing in yourselves with knowledge. If reading alone is not enough, take courses or the like as well. The point is, do not stop adding to your skills,” she said during the Talkshow, Fun Learning, Parenting, Skills, and School Environment event at SMAN 9 Gowa, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
She stressed that the learning process is not limited to school lessons but also includes developing other skills, such as mastering foreign languages. According to her, language proficiency, particularly English, is important in an increasingly borderless world.
“Even if we are not English speakers, at least we understand it. Or if you want to be even better, add another language. This is actually to open up your communication with many circles,” she stated.
In addition, Tri reminded the importance of using technological advancements wisely. She encouraged students to use digital devices as a means of learning and self-development, not just for entertainment.
“Well, with the new world now, the facilities are extraordinary. Not just games, there are many courses. And also with your gadgets. You must utilise at least how many minutes a day for learning,” she said.
Tri also underlined the importance of planning to achieve aspirations. She invited students to start compiling concrete steps, at least in the short term, to reach their desired goals. According to her, changing aspirations at school age is normal. However, what is most important is personal readiness and sincerity in striving to achieve those goals.
“You can plan what needs to be done. Certainly, do not stop learning. Learning is not just part of Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and so on. There are many things that can be learned formally in school or outside of school,” she added.
